Just a few things going on here
Well Nathan and Tim Cook have moved in so to speak. They came out to make the oil field wages since they are neither one working out in Orem. Today was Tim's first day of work but Nathan has not gotten a job yet. Tim got the job yesterday, Nathan called the guy first but didn't leave a message then Tim called, left a message and what do you know, he got the job. The food bill has now gone up because there is now 10 mouths that have to be filled everyday. I enjoy cooking large meals, I don't think I would know how to cook a small one anyways, its just expensive to buy. I have to go to Costco and Wal mart on thursday the 18th, the day before my surgery, so that I can make sure that I have all the food and things for the two weeks since I will not beable to go to any store for that time frame. I will also have to let go of the kitchen for the couple weeks and let someone else do the cooking (for the most part anyway) I will have the meals started in the time frame that needs to be done to avoid us eating at midnight and then when Kevin gets home he will take over the remaining cooking that needs to be done. He was not going to stick to the menu but wasn't giving me any ideas to what he was going to cook. I explained as nicely as I could that without knowing what he was going to cook there was no way of knowing what items I would have to buy for him to use and that he would have to do the grocery shopping out at Costco and Wal mart otherwise. As we all know how much he loves Costco he decided that if I would just start the meals cooking then he would stick to the menu and not have to come up with his own ideas for meals. This is good and bad. Good because I know exactly what things are going to be cooked so the preparation can still be done on it plus I still have some control over the kitchen happenings!! The bad part is that I still have to do some cooking, more likely than not I will be doing most of the cooking and it will just be the smallest amount left if anything for him to do when he gets home. Most of the meals on the menu are simple and don't take much time at all but there are a couple that have alot of chopping and monatoring that has to be done. For birthdays around here we give the person having the birthday the choice of what we will have for dinner, on the 25th, David has chosen to have ham, candied yams, a relish tray, homemade rolls, and pumpkin pie for desert. That is a meal that I will cheat on a little and buy a frozen pie and the relish tray already ready to go (no chopping) The rolls will be made and the rest of the stuff, I will be halfway healed from the surgery by his birthday so I may decide to do it all myself, we will see how I feel!!! Mostly my job for two weeks (after 9-19) will be to do nothing, that will be the hardest thing for me to do since most of the things that get done around the house from cleaning to cooking is what I do. I will start on a paint by number and catch up on some reading. I will most likely be done with the latch hook that I am doing now, I am down to the last 23 lines across to do. I work on it on Sundays so it has slowed down the finishing progress. Ashley hasn't done to much more on hers, she watched tv and plays games instead, haven't seen any drawings from her yet either. I will have to find the camera and take pictures of the two latch hooks and then as I start on the paint by numbers post the progress for that as well. Thats all that is happening here besides school things. With Adrian being a senior he is getting all the senior packets for the pictures and class rings. He failed to mention to me that he needed a deposit of 50 dollars to put down on his ring until last night and he said the people are there today so he needs it today. I told him that I didn't have it til next friday and then we can just get on line and order it that way. The look on his face could have made me cry, he doesn't hide disapointment very well. I wish he would have told me when he first got the packet almost a week ago and I could have had it for him. He and David are ordering the cap and gowns also. As a parent this is a horrible year that is going to be over to soon and then he will be all grown up and on his own.

So where are Nathan and his friend living? I thought all the rooms in the house were taken up at this point. You should be sure they pitch in a bit of money for food, too...that is a lot of mouths to feed. Hungry, grown-up mouths, too!
If you make the rolls now they freeze quite nicely then you'd only have to do the yams and throw the ham in the oven.
BUT...why wait for Kevin to do the cooking? There is a house full of able-bodied teenagers and adults who better darn well pitch in and help out while you recover! I know you have spoiled them with your cooking but they can certainly cover it for two weeks.
I agree with Alison about getting all those spoiled family members to help out. It may just make them appreciate all you do for them too. And yes, Nathan and his friend should pitch in for the food too. It's still cheaper than rent in Provo.
Just be sure to take it easy no matter what so that you can recuperate fully.
Nathan and Tim are staying in the living room right now and as far as I am aware they will be giving money for food but I don't know how much. As far as the spoiled family, I can't get the kids to do anything more than the chores that they have to do so I am not holding my breath that there will be any help what so ever, they are exactly what you say... spoiled.
