Time In Kentucky

This is a picture above of what the store did for Joe. When we left on the 27Th of the month they still had it up. I think that it was very sweet for them to have put it up but then to keep it up for as long as they did was even more of a tribute to Joe. He made friends everywhere he went and the sign said it all, he will be missed!!

Only in Kentucky would you see that someone drove themselves to the store in a vehicle like this!! I have another picture of the man that drove it as he was leaving but it was so far back that it was hard to see him. He was an older man with a long beard! It was funny to see this! I saw it a couple of times while there, each time was funny!!

While there were several family members there in Kentucky for Grandma Bloodworth's funeral we took the time to go and see a few things that were historical. Below are some of the pictures of our travels!!

This was a very old cemetery and some of the graves were from the 1700's!! Spencer was having a blast as you can see climbing on some of the them!

The picture below was taken either right before or after Jonathan played a mean trick on Kendall. He was telling him that you could see some of the bones still in one of the broken corners of one and so as Kendall went to take a peek, Jonathan grabbed him and yelled causing him to jump. I felt so bad, everyone but myself was laughing about it. Kendall of course was not laughing either, in fact he was kind of in a bad mood for a while. Poor kid.

Here is Nathan being the preacher in the old church! He fit the profile having all the facial hair that he has! He didn't want to pose but did it anyway!! The picture makes him look a little creepy though!!

This is the outside of the church. The focus could have been closer in but oh well! If you can't tell who it is, it is mom, Nathan, Samuel, Ashley, and myself!

OK, behind the church was an outhouse. Suppose to be there mostly for show but some people decided that nature called and that was where to go!! As you can see, it was not smelling like roses!!

For anyone that does not know the story of the next picture, there was a girl wanting to go to a dance but a storm came and she was not able to go. She cursed God and was then struck by lightning. Her image is stained into the glass!!

I believe it!!

There was a lot of visits to see Granddaddy in the nursing home, everyday in fact! On a couple of different occasions we went out to eat. The picture below was taken on a day that it was just Mom and I with him. He was insisting the night before that he had bills to take care of even though mom told him everything was taken care of already. When her and I got there the next day he was still saying he had stuff to do. We got him into the car and headed to take care of all those bills, the most important one to him was the car insurance!! After a couple of more times in the car of mom explaining to him that there was nothing that he needed to do he opted to go to lunch at Shoney's! I went in and asked for someone to come and help us get him out of the car and into his chair and went in. I asked him if I could take his picture, he didn't want it done but in the end opted to let me take it!! Not a real smile obviously but a good picture non the less!!

On one of the visits to the nursing home he was messing around with Ashley's sun glasses and once again I insisted on taking a picture. He said OK but if I took more than just one he was going to break the camera!!! He is just styling!! He was afraid that he would stretch out her glasses but I let him know that it would be fine, Ashley has a larger head than myself and surprisingly enough, hers is the same as his!!

The last night we were there we got pictures of each one of us with Granddaddy. The first one here is of course mom and him!

Then we have Ashley and him! I like the expression on his face in this one!!

Then there is me and him. I had been crying so I look all red and splotchy. We had just watched an episode of the Extreme Makeover with Ty Pennington. The father had died as a result of cancer and even though it doesn't look like it, mom had been crying also!! I guess I am not a good crier!!

I enjoyed my time there in Kentucky. Granted the reason for going was not one of a fun nature but the ending result was that I was able to be there and visit with Granddaddy for a month, he was able to meet Ashley, got to spend time with mom and meet people that were all so outgoing. I was also blessed to be there with both Grandma and Joe when God said it was time to go home!!
