So yesterday I took David to the Dr. in Roosevelt and made sure that he was aware of the soda intake and on all the things that have been bothering him for the past month or longer. He was told that his stomach issues are caused a lot by his amount of soda intake but if they are still there after cutting out most if not all of his soda then to go back and he will check more thoroughly to see what else could be causing the pain. David was also put on an EKG machine and was told that his heart is doing fine. What it boils down to is pleurisy. It all equals the same thing as Sterling said being in the sidewall and what the er Dr. said, apparently they are all the same thing! Rather than give him medicine he gave him a breathing machine to strengthen his lungs and work out the pain. I have had pleurisy except mine turned into pneumonia so it was quite a bit more painful than what David is going through. David really liked the Dr that we went and saw yesterday and so did I. I am considering him for the person that when anyone is sick to go and see. He got to the point and even made some jokes. All in all it was a relaxing visit and got rid of the worries that it was something serious!!
I weighed myself yesterday while there in the clinic only to find that I have lost a pound since my last Dr appointment. I was sad by this but I am sure that as the pounds come in the coming months I will be thinking how much of a bonehead I was to be sad by losing a pound!! I am excited to go to my next appointment so that Adrian will get to hear the heartbeat before leaving for the army. Mom will also be there with me so that should be exciting as well!! I have also found that as each day goes by my tolerance for hamburger meat gets worse and worse. I can feel fine and then to smell it is the beginning of the domino effect so to speak. I did manage to eat a taco last night at dinner. Most of what was in the shell was lettuce and cheese but I did have a small amount of meat in it. I kept it down but that was a challenge I have to say. Tonight we are having spaghetti so we will see how well I do with that!! I feel almost like a vegetarian. I haven't found a vegetable that I can't eat except for tomatoes! I am working on drinking milk but it is not something that I liked before and is still not something that I like now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do that would be equal to drinking milk??
Well that is all I have except today when Ashley gets home from school we will be making some no bake cookies!! She is excited and has been waiting for me to give the OK on making them so I told her yesterday that we would do them today. Hopefully they are good to me. I used to like them so we shall see!!

Given that you don't like hamburger or tomatoes I'm guessing the spaghetti tonight didn't go over well!
I was the same way with hamburger (meat in general) my first trimester, so if I made spaghetti I'd do mine without meat in my sauce.
I drink my milk with lots of Nesquick. It's chocolatey and good and I'm still getting the calcium (albeit with a few extra calories). If you really can't stomach the milk, do as much yogurt and cheese as you can. Even ice cream has calcium in it. Of course, my best recommendation is to be sure to take your prenatal vitamin every day...on days in my first trimester I felt like I didn't manage to eat/keep down anything healthy, I was comforted to know that at the very least I was taking my vitamin so the baby is getting something!
That is great that you found a good doctor. Keep us posted on David's condition and improvement without the soda. Also, what the heck is going on with Nathan's health these days? I haven't heard an update on him for a while, but mom mentioned on the phone the other day that he still can't keep anything down. Has he been to see anyone?
Nathan is being stubborn but has been advised that as of Monday if he is still not keeping food down or being able to eat at all then he is going to a doctor kicking and screaming if need be!
As far as the cheese goes, I can do that but I am still not able to eat ice cream so that is a no go. I do take my vitamins everyday so that is good and I found that pop cycles are good when I feel nauseous. I have heard it is a good form of fluids plus it helps when I feel sick. I have tried chocolate milk and it is a little better than regular milk but still can only be consumes in small amounts.
At this point the sauce is cooking and the smell is horrible, I will let you know how it goes in the end!
The noodles worked out good and I removed the meat from the sauce and it didn't do to bad!! Just so in case anyone was curious!!
What is the deal with the milk? Is it a pregnancy thing or do you just not like milk in general? I love milk! I drink it everyday, even here. At home we always have it with dinner or whatever. So if you just don't like it, I feel bad for you, because it is so good!
What kind of milk are you drinking? I drink skim milk because it doesn't have such a strong "milk" flavor. I have to admit, though, it wasn't until the second trimester I really started drinking it again. I think I lived on peanut butter toast only during the first trimester!
Andy, not everyone likes milk! Be glad you do. It's been a struggle for me my whole life, even though I know it's something I should drink. I fight to get my girls to drink it, too, although so far Bentley likes it.
I drink Vitamin D milk but I have tried all kinds and I just don't like it. I never have liked it much at all but since being pregnant it makes me sick. I wish I liked milk because then I would have more calcium but to me it just isn't good.
I was going to suggest the yogurt and cheese idea too. Have you tried pudding? I am so glad that I love milk, and chocolate is even better. That was one thing I didn't have trouble with during pregnancy. But yeah, meat was another story. It was especially bad if I had to prepare it. I found that if Kalen could cook it, I could choke it down usually, but it sounds like even that may not be going over well for you. Hang in there. At least it doesn't last forever and it is definitely for a good cause.
Definitely keep us posted on David and Nathan. They are way too young to be having issues like this. (Has Nathan cut out any sodas? When he was here he was drinking Mountain Dew like it was going out of style!)
i couldn't drink milk after grant was born because it was affecting him. so instead i had tons of orange juice with calcium. i could drink gallons of it in a day. just ask andrew. :) it says there's as much calcium as milk. and i got the 100% juice so there wasn't extra sugar added.
and andrew probably likes milk so much because he was allergic to it when he was a baby. poor guy had to drink soy. :) maybe you can try soy milk. does that have calcium? i know there's different flavors.
and to answer your question about the bumbo, it is a seat. and it's great because it allows the baby to sit up before they're able to. and grant loves to sit on the counter while i cook and try to grab as many things as possible.
